After two years of cancellations, Brisbane Showgrounds will welcome back the iconic Royal Queensland Show, aka the Ekka, from Saturday August 6 – Sunday August 14th.
A celebration of the state’s local produce, culture and entertainment scene that’s run for almost 150 years.
Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA) chief executive Brendan Christou said “After two years without an Ekka, we can’t wait to reunite the country and city at the state’s biggest and most loved event.”
Since 1876, more than 33 million people have come together to celebrate what makes this state great. And it is the Ekka’s rich traditions that form the heart of the show in a true celebration of agriculture. Show visitors will enjoy all their traditional and unique favourites, including animals, competitions, rides, show bags, food, entertainment, music and fireworks.
The Ekka’s famous strawberry sundaes of course will be on the menu, with all profits from the sundaes going to the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, funding vital medical research.
The 2022 Ekka is set to run between Saturday, August 6–Sunday, August 14. For more information, visit the show’s website.
